Shaquille O'Neal opens up on Chris Rock's comedy special: "We can't call people the B word in a comedy anymore?"
Shaquille O'Neal not only has hilarious basketball takes and jokes, but he can also make a good time out of others. O'Neal recently spoke about the Chris Rock and Will Smith situation.
Smith smacked Rock in the face at the Oscars last year, and most thought it was fake. However, it was as real as it gets, and O'Neal and everyone else knows that now.
After Rock went on a huge rant on a recent comedy show, going after Will Smith, Shaquille said:
"We can't call people the B word in a comedy anymore? ... If it's comedy, why do we automatically go to he's calling out her name?"
Shaquille O'Neal said that what Chris Rock did in response at the Oscars was the right thing. While this was arguably one of the biggest things that has ever happened in television history, Rock did the right thing as any retaliation would've just made the situation worse, according to O'Neal.
"There's two sides of what Chris should have done," O'Neal said. "He was the bigger man, very corporate, didn't do nothing, back came with a joke right away. That's why I thought it was fake, 'cause he is like, 'Wow, Will Smith just smacked the shit out of me.' Kudos to him for having the Martin Luther King mentality: take it on the cheek and continue to be peaceful.
"Now, what I would have did, I would have told the people, 'Lock the door. There's nobody leaving until I get the hold of him.' If Denzel (Washington) and Tyler Perry get in the way, they gonna get these hands. Ain't no way you smack me, turn around and go sit down. I got to see you immediately.
"If I don't see you immediately 'cause the corporate side kick in – 'cause I don't wanna lose all the endorsement that I got –I'mma see your ass at the back."
Shaquille O'Neal just seems to always find himself in a funny moment, whether it's on the basketball court or not. One of the greatest players in basketball history will always find a way to get himself involved. He's a jokester, and that's what makes Shaquille the person he is. Perhaps O'Neal and Rock are good friends because he seems to stick up for him.
