On 3 March 2018, Corey Brewer signed a short term deal until the end of the season with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Brewer's arrival came after the veteran had started just two times for a struggling Los Angeles Lakers team, and few OKC fans expected him to have much of an impact on the team.

Nevertheless, Brewer immediately found himself in Billy Donovan's starting lineup, and the 32-year-old averaged 25 minutes per game during the Thunder's first-round playoff exit to the Utah Jazz. During the series, Brewer also shot 45% from beyond the arc, and there was no doubting that he had made a major contribution to the team.

After Brewer's contract expired at the end of the season, many expected him to continue with the Thunder, although an extension was never agreed upon. In fact, Brewer didn't feature again in the NBA until he signed a 10-day contract with the Philadelphia 76ers back in January.

Brewer's time in Philadelphia was brief, as the organization opted against extending his deal until the summer. That said, the guard once again impressed during his seven games with the team.

Brewer has since signed with the Sacramento Kings, and despite being signed to his second 10-day contract, Brewer has played just once, scoring 11 points during a 13-minute outing against the Golden State Warriors. At this point, it looks unlikely that the Kings will extend Brewer's deal, and the veteran will soon be looking for his third team of 2019.

The Thunder remain a team that need to fill out their roster, as the recent releases of Richard Solomon and Scotty Hopson have left them under the 14 player minimum requirement. This means that the Thunder need to sign at least one player in the next two weeks.

Considering Brewer's familiarity with the organization, bringing him back into the fold makes sense. While the shooting guard is unlikely to start over Terrance Ferguson, Brewer's energy and hustle would be a big boost to the Thunder bench ahead of the playoffs.

Brewer will personally have no hesitation in returning to Oklahoma City, so hopefully, Sam Presti will offer the 32-year-old a route back to the franchise.
