Steph Curry defiant in defeat against Heat as Warriors go down 3-5: “We are not a moral victory team… But we played better tonight”

Steph Curry believes the Golden State Warriors played better than the Miami Heat in their encounter at the FTX Arena on Tuesday, November 1. However, the Warriors lost the game 116-109.

Curry and Co. endured a difficult start, trailing the Heat by nine points at the end of the first quarter. However, they looked like they had rediscovered their magic over the next two periods.

The Warriors outscored Miami 70-53 across the second and third quarters, taking an eight-point lead into the final frame. However, Jimmy Butler and Co. tightened their defense, limiting the Dubs to only 15 fourth-quarter points.

Miami scored 30 points during that stretch to seal the win. The Warriors looked like the better team but lacked the execution to secure the win. Speaking after the game, Steph Curry had this to say about the Warriors' performance (via 95.7 The Game):

"We are not a moral victory team by any stretch but you can clearly say we played better tonight. We just gotta keep building on that."

The Golden State Warriors have gotten off to a shaky start. They are 3-5 so far. They were expected to be much better with a healthier roster to start the year, but that hasn't been the case.

The Dubs have some new names coming aboard this offseason. They've also had to rely more on their young players following the departures of Gary Payton II and Otto Porter Jr., among others.

The Warriors have majorly struggled on defense. They rank 25th in the NBA's defensive ratings and 29th in opposition points per game.

The Warriors were a tad better against the Heat defensively compared to their last few games. It is a good start, but as Steph Curry said, Golden State cannot rely on moral victories. They need to start executing their plans to turn things around soon.

Steph Curry drops monster triple-double in loss against Heat

Steph Curry went all guns blazing during the Golden State Warriors' loss against the Miami Heat. The two-time MVP bagged 23 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists, shooting 50% from the field.

Curry has continued to play at an MVP-caliber level this season. Across eight appearances, he has averaged 30.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists, shooting on 47/40/94 splits. The Warriors' offense continues to thrive because of his excellence on that end of the floor.

Even at 34, Curry has displayed tremendous conditioning running the floor, moving quickly off the ball, scoring from all three levels and creating opportunities. The Warriors will need him to keep at it, especially with Klay Thompson struggling with his shooting.

Thompson has averaged 13.3 points per game on 35.1% shooting from the field, including 29.5% from 3-point range. Nevertheless, the Warriors' performance against the Heat suggests they are heading in the right direction.

The Warriors have been one of the most well-coached teams in the league. Meanwhile, Steph Curry has been firing on all cylinders, so it wouldn't be surprising to see them turn things around and string together a winning run soon.
