Stephen Curry: A future basketball Hall of Famer turns 30

Oklahoma City Thunder v Golden State Warriors - Game Seven
Stephen Curry is one of the best shooters ever to play the game of basketball

Today Stephen Curry matched his age with the number of the jersey he dons for the Golden State Warriors, i.e, 30. Therefore it is the perfect day to remind ourselves of everything he has done for this beautiful sport called basketball.

For those of you who still don't know, Curry was born on 14 March 1988. He is the son of the former NBA player Dell Curry and older brother of the current NBA player Seth Curry. Stephen is married to his longtime girlfriend Ayesha Alexander (now Ayesha Curry) and is a father of two girls named Riley (born 2012) and Ryan (born 2015).

Stephen Curry was selected as the seventh overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft, by the Golden State Warriors. By now, and long before his 30th birthday, many experts and analysts have given him the title of the best shooter this game has ever seen.

In the 2014-15 season,ย Curry won the NBA Most Valuable Player award and led the Warriors to their first championship title since 1975. In season 2015-16 he became the first player in NBA history who won the MVP by a unanimous vote and he also led the league in scoring. That year the Warriors set the record for the most wins in the regular NBA season. That was also the year when they lost the NBA Finals to Cleveland Cavaliers.

Curry has been confusing a lot of his opponents with his wide arsenal of dribbling skills. Many of them ended down on the floor while guarding him. His dribbling style is so unique and his movement is too hard to predict. At just 6 feet 3 inches tall he uses his speed as an advantage to pass his opponents by and attack the rim or assist his teammates.

Curry averages a career accuracy of 43.6 percent from beyond the arc and leads the Golden State Warriors in terms of three-pointers made this season with 209 threes.

These are some of the reasons why this day means a lot for most of the lovers of Basketball. It is a sad and a happy day at the same time. Sad because Curry is celebrating his 30th birthday injured.

It is a happy day because this is the day on which 30 years ago this future basketball Hall of Famer was born and hopefully we still have 5-6 more years to enjoy his game. Speaking of happy - his teammates threw him a party to remember for his 30th birthday, although they did have to cancel the practice because of the late-night show.

Stephen Curry is not only a talented basketball player. He is also a very good and humble person according to his teammates and his coach. Curry supports charity work, and he was a part of the United Nations Nothing But Nets campaign for a long time.

The things are not looking so good for the Warriors right now as Curry is out for at least one more week and the team is currently second in the Western Conference, two wins behind the Houston Rockets.

No doubt they will have a tough job winning against the Rockets as the two teams are the main contestants for the Western Conference Finals. So hurry up Steph, you are very much needed.
