The Cleveland Cavaliers Should Consider Trading Isaiah Thomas

Portland Trail Blazers v Cleveland Cavaliers

Isaiah Thomas

The Cleveland Cavaliers have had many in-house issues lately and it isn't pretty. The obvious issue starts with LeBron James because he is the leader of this team despite his talent. Well, Lebron may not be the only problem in Cleveland. It seems like newly acquired point guard Isaiah Thomas may be in fact the biggest problem out of all on the Cavaliers.

He was traded for Kyrie Irving and other assets because Irving wanted out of Cleveland. Now, it is looking like the Cavaliers might actually trade Isaiah Thomas. There are rumors out there that the Cavaliers want point guard George Hill from the Sacramento Kings and would it possible for them to swap players?

According to the ESPN Trade Machine, that trade wouldn't work but if the Cavaliers added in Tristan Thompson in the deal, the trade would work.

The reason why Thomas might be on the move is that it seems like it is not working out in Cleveland even though he is coming off his hip injury. It wouldn't be a bad idea for the Cavaliers to trade him because he doesn't seem to fit in the Cavaliers scheme and he has an expiring contract. I don't think the Cleveland want to pay him max money and that might be why.

According to Frank Isola from the New York Daily News, Thomas was the one that led the charge against Kevin Love in a recent team meeting.

I am not surprised by it because Isaiah Thomas is looking to point the blame at other players on the team except himself. The Cavaliers at one point won 15 out of 16 games without Thomas this season. Also, they have only lost by 15 or more points three times before he returned.

Ever since Thomas returned, the Cavaliers are 3-7 and they have already lost by 15 or more points three times. Isaiah Thomas is a horrible defender and he doesn't attempt to play defense and the rest of the team isn't much better defensively either.

It is no accident that the Boston Celtics jumped from 12th to the best defense in the NBA this season without him.Thomas is averaging 15.9 PPG 1.2 RPG and 3.4 APG so far this season. His plus/minus isn't very good either again.

The Cavaliers aren't going to win a championship by not playing defense at all. The offense was good even without Thomas. If they got rid of Thomas, it wouldn't be a bad thing and plus he has an expiring contract and maybe they could get something even greater for him.
