Top 5 tallest players entering 2024-25 NBA Season

Height is might in the game of basketball and is a significant advantage. Therefore, it's no surprise that the NBA features many tall players who are formidable forces in the paint both offensively and defensively. The tallest players to ever play in the league were Gheorghe Muresan and Manute Bol who stood at 7-foot-7 and played in the 80s and 90s.

With just over a month to go before the start of the 2024-25 NBA campaign, let's take a look at the tallest players we'll see playing in the season.

#5 Bol Bol (Phoenix Suns)

Standing at 7-foot-2, Bol Bol is the son of Manute Bol. The Suns center is heading into his sixth season in the league and averaged 5.2 points and 3.2 rebounds in just under 11 minutes per game last year.

#4 Kristaps Porzingis (Boston Celtics)

Kristaps Porzingis was one of the key players in the Celtics' championship run. The 7-foot-3 center averaged 20.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.9 blocks in the regular season as the Celtics clinched the best record in the league.

Porzingis suffered a leg injury during the NBA Finals and underwent surgery in June with his recovery time expected to be five to six months. He is expected to return to action midway through the season.

#1 Boban Marjanovic (Houston Rockets)

There is a three-way tie for the current tallest player in the league with all of them standing at 7-foot-4. One of them is the Houston Rockets center Boban Marjanovic. He is heading into his ninth season in the league and is coming off his least efficient season yet with averages of 3.2 points and 2.3 rebounds in 5.1 minutes per game.

#1 Zach Edey (Memphis Grizzlies)

Sharing the league's tallest player title is the Memphis Grizzlies' ninth overall pick of the 2024 NBA Draft, Zach Edey. Ahead of his rookie season, the former Purdue star displayed his abilities during the Summer League and is one of the favorites to win the Rookie of the Year award.

Edey recorded a double-double of 14 points and 15 rebounds, along with four blocks in his lone appearance in the Summer League. He tweaked both his ankles in two separate plays but he was impactful for Memphis nevertheless.

#1 Victor Wembanyama (San Antonio Spurs)

Victor Wembanyama arguably made the best use of his height in the league. The 2023-24 Rookie of the Year led the league in blocks by a huge margin and also joined elite company by registering a triple-double with blocks.

Selected first overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, Wembanyama couples his advantageous physique with his incredible skillset to be lethal on both ends of the floor. He averaged an impressive 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 3.6 blocks and 1.2 steals in his rookie campaign and will be one to watch in the upcoming season.
