Superstar big man Nikola Jokic is having himself another stellar season for the Denver Nuggets. Some NBA media members believe that Jokic is on his way to winning his third consecutive MVP award.
In the history of the NBA, only three players have ever won three consecutive Most Valuable Player awards. The list features Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell. Bird was the last one to accomplish the feat, winning from 1984-1986.
Each year, Nikola Jokic has taken his game to another level. One of the most versatile superstars in the NBA, Jokic has been a dominant center throughout his career. He's currently averaging 24.7 points, 11.5 rebounds and 10.1 assists this season. Although Jokic has won the award in back-to-back seasons, he's never averaged more than 8.3 assists per game in a season before.
An early poll from the NBA media shows that Jokic is currently in the lead to win his third straight MVP award. Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo finds himself in second place with Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid in third.

Jokic has also been posting career-highs in a number of different categories. He's shooting 63.2% from the field, with his previous high being 58.3% last season. Jokic is also shooting an impressive 39.1% from 3-point range. His best season saw him shooting 39.6% in 2017-18.
The Denver Nuggets have thrived this season behind their superstar big man. As of Thursday morning, the Nuggets maintained first place in the Western Conference standings by five games. Denver looks to have the roster to make a serious push in the Western Conference.
If Jokic can continue to play at this level, he will have his eyes set on making NBA history. It could also lead to the Nuggets having their eyes on another trophy when it comes time for the NBA playoffs.
