Video: Michael Jordan wouldn't hang with John Salley in his new Ferrari
Michael Jordan has been known for some hilarious interactions throughout his career. John Salley was the first player in NBA history to win a title with three different teams, as well as the first player to win a championship in three different decades, and shared another hilarious interaction.
On the "Club Shay Shay" podcast, Salley gave his top five NBA players that he played with and said Michael Jordan was easily on that list.
However, he had an even better story about the time when Jordan wouldn't let him get into his Ferrari after the Detroit Pistons beat the Chicago Bulls.
“One time we played Michael, and he goes: 'Hey, man, I got the Ferrari.' So, I’m like, ‘Cool, I can’t wait to see it.’ We beat them, and he drives off fast. I hit him up like, ‘What happened?’ He goes, “Man, I ain’t hanging with you.’’
Michael Jordan wasn't messing around here. He's been known to never allow his competition to feel comfortable around him. Whether it was talking smack or pushing them around, Jordan wasn't going to allow anything he didn't want.
Salley thinks Michael Jordan is one of the best all time
Although Michael Jordan dissed John Salley like this, they still have a good friendship. Salley has even more hilarious comments that he's made about Jordan and the things they both dealt with throughout their playing days.
Salley told probably the funniest story that anyone can tell about an NBA game:
“Michael acts like he’s leaving, doubles back, has on his tennis sneakers, Vans with a Nike swoosh on them. ‘Nah, nah, nah, Phil (Jackson), I’m in this scrimmage. Put Ron Harper over there.' It's the Pistons versus the Cavs, and we have Randy Martin.
"All of a sudden, Michael gets a steal, and I’m running back. I turn back, and I’m gonna block the shot. I’m about to jump, and all of a sudden, I mistime it. When I look up, Michael’s midsection is going by my head. He’s like ‘Block this, b*tch!’ And POW! I went back home and told my mom that I just saw the greatest basketball player of all time. … Ma, he did it in sneakers.”
The two both had great careers. It's tough to say that Salley had even half of the career that Jordan had, but we also can't truly say that about most players in NBA history either.
According to most, Michael Jordan is the best player of all time. However, Salley has an impressive resume. Salley was a first-round draft pick and four-time champion. NBA players can only hope to win four NBA titles.
Jordan, on the other hand, was a six-time champion, six-time finals MVP, five-time MVP, 14-time All-Star, 10-time All-NBA first-team selection and much more.
It's tough to compare careers.
