Washington Wizards Preview
Despite the lack of quality in the Eastern Conference, the Washington Wizards face an uphill task of qualifying for the postseason. Friday's defeat to the Los Angeles Lakers set them back to a 6-11 record, and many of their problems come from a historically bad defense.
While they are currently averaging 118.5 points per game (2nd highest in the NBA) - it has mattered for little as their defense has been the worst in the league by a considerable distance. Unless the Wizards can improve on the defensive end, they will likely miss out on the playoffs yet again.
Key Player - Bradley Beal
Bradley Beal signed a new two-year maximum contract extension with the Wizards earlier this season, and the 26-year-old is enjoying a career season. Through 17 games, Beal is averaging 28.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 7.1 assists - and this Wizards team is extremely lucky to have a player of his quality.
Wizards Predicted Lineup:
Rui Hachimura, Troy Brown, Thomas Bryant, Bradley Beal, Isaiah Thomas
Los Angeles Clippers Preview
Following the return of Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, the Los Angeles Clippers had quickly put together a seven-game winning streak, and they appeared set for another win on Friday against an out-of-sorts San Antonio Spurs. However, the Clippers produced their worst performance of the season on the way to slumping to a surprise 97-107 defeat.
George and Leonard combined for just 24 points, while usually reliable role players such as Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, and Montrezl Harris also failed to make an impact. It was a worrying performance, although the Clippers have been excellent over the past few weeks, and they will be confident of returning to winning ways tonight.
Key Player - Paul George
George's form has dipped following a blistering start to life in Los Angeles, and the 29-year-old posted a season-low five points against the Spurs on Friday. Nevertheless, PG13's struggles won't last and he could be primed for a big night at Staples Center.
Clippers Predicted Lineup:
Kawhi Leonard, Maurice Harkless, Ivica Zubac, Patrick Beverley, Paul George
Wizards vs Clippers Match Prediction
The Clippers have lost just once at Staples Center so far this season, while the Wizards have one only three of their ten road games. With Leonard and George also looking to produce bounce back performances, the Clippers should come away with an easy win.
