Watch: A closer look at Golden State Warriors’ rings that twist to unlock trophies inside
In typical NBA tradition, the Golden State Warriors kicked off the season on their home floor to receive their championship rings.
Over the years, teams have gone above and beyond with their concepts, and Golden State is no different. Given that this was their fourth title in eight years, they made sure to create a ring that the players will cherish forever.
For starters, the ring twists on top to reveal the number of titles that each specific player has won. On the side, there are seven trophies to represent all the championships the franchise has won in history.
While most rings are covered in white diamonds, the organization went in a different direction. These rings are yellow gold which signifies the "golden age" of the Warriors' franchise.
The finishing touch to the eye-popping piece of jewelry is that the ring itself was crafted to match the outside of Golden State's current stadium, the Chase Center.
Golden State Warriors showed no signs of championship hangover
For some teams, a "championship hangover" comes into play following the ring ceremony, but that wasn't the case with the Golden State Warriors.
Hosting LeBron James and the LA Lakers, Golden State managed to start the year off in the win column. Steph Curry led the way with 33 points, six rebounds and seven assists in the 123-109 victory. Even though LeBron put up 31 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists, it wasn't enough to overcome his longtime rival.
Having been to the mountaintop before, the Warriors knows how important it is to stay focused on their goal. Fresh off winning the title last year, they want to be back in this mix this season.
Some feel the Warriors have a very good chance of repeating, and their opening night performance was a testament to that. Curry is still playing at a superstar level, and the players around him continue to thrive. Some of the notable standouts in the win over LA were Andrew Wiggins (20 points and six rebounds), Klay Thompson (18 points) and Jordan Poole (12 points and seven assists).
If anyone thought Golden State would start the season slowly, they were proven wrong on Tuesday. They appear more than ready to defend their title in the coming months.
