Watch: Eagles fan Jalen Brunson hilariously tries to strip Josh Hart's Commanders Noggin during post-game interview
New York Knicks guards Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart have a long-standing friendship dating back to their Villanova days, and they often share on- and off-court interactions that only real friends can have. On Sunday, during a locker room interview, the two had another hilarious exchange.
Hart wore a Washington Commanders Noggin — a gigantic headwear with a circumference larger than that of the wearer’s head — and a jersey, much to Brunson’s dislike. As Hart was being interviewed, Brunson, a Philadelphia Eagles fan, tried to remove the oversized hat.
During the interview, Hart cracked a joke about Brunson’s head size compared to the giant hat.
“When I was (going to) pick the sizes, it was small, medium, large, then it said ‘JB’ (Jalen Brunson) with an asterisk, so I was like, whoa, what size is that?” he quipped.
The Eagles won their first encounter against the Commanders this season, 26-18. They will meet again on Dec. 22.
Explaining his hat choice, Hart said:
“Yeah, man, Sundays are always great days, because the Commanders play.”
Hart was born in Silver Spring, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, D.C. He attended Wheaton High School before moving to Sidwell Friends School, both located in Maryland.
While a New Jersey native, Brunson has frequently showcased his Eagles fandom.
Jalen Brunson gives his take on the NBA-NFL athletes switching sports debate
Over the past year, there has been considerable talk about NBA and NFL players switching sports. Jalen Brunson believes the transition from the NBA to the NFL would be easier for basketball players.
"I would say it's easier for an NBA guy to play in the NFL. I'm not saying it's easy, it's easier. ... I played for two years when I was a kid, and I realized this was not for me," Brunson shared on ESPN's Monday Night Countdown before an Eagles game in September.
As Brunson explained why the NBA is more difficult, particularly the challenge of defending the pick-and-roll, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce jokingly interrupted:
“I got this. I’m going to right through the pick.”
Kelce later acknowledged that the athleticism in the NBA is on a whole different level.
“I say this, I'm in the same boat as you, the most impressive thing I've ever done—sitting courtside on an NBA [court]. It is so astronomically mind-blowing how athletic you guys are out there, so kudos to the athleticism that's out there,” Kelce said.
While Jalen Brunson's loyalty to the Philadelphia Eagles is clear, he recently signed a four-year, $156.5 million extension with the New York Knicks, leaving $113 million on the table to help the team retain financial flexibility moving forward.
