Examining Brandon Miller's draft projection
Alabama Crimson Tide wing Brandon Miller was one of the most impressive players in the NCAA throughout the 2022-23 season. Now, Miller will take his special talents to the NBA level.
Miller has the potential to be a star at the NBA level. With the modern NBA becoming a league that desires elite wings, Miller has the upside to be a special talent. The 6-9 freshman showed the ability to be a dangerous threat from outside. He has limitless range to his outside shot and will arguably be one of the best shooters in the 2023 NBA draft.
But Miller has also shown flashes of sensational playmaking upside. He's a poised ball handler who is constantly surveying the floor to pick apart defenses. Miller has also shown some flashes of self creation in the midrange.
One of the most pleasant surprises of his game this year has been his desire to attack the glass. The talented freshman racked up plenty of double-digit rebounding performances.
Miller was caught in the middle of an investigation this year involving former Alabama teammate Darius Miles, who was part of a fatal shooting in January. Miller wasn't charged but will likely have to face questions from NBA teams throughout the predraft process.
The talented freshman also dealt with a groin injury near the end of the season which affected his play in the NCAA Tournament. Miller averaged 18.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He shot 43.0%, including 38.4% from 3-point range.
Miller is expected to be a top three pick in the NBA draft. If he continues to check all of the boxes throughout the predraft process, there's a chance he could climb up to the second pick.
