What can be Draymond Green's maximum yearly salary on his next contract?

Draymond Green has been instrumental in the success of the Golden State Warriors during his 11 years with the organization. Green has helped lead the Warriors to four titles as an integral piece of their defense. The four-time All-Star is set to make $25.8 million in 2022-2023, and holds a player option for 2023-2024 that would pay him $27.6 million.

Green is currently eligible for a four-year extension that would pay him just under $31 million in the first season. Since Golden State retains his bird rights, the 2016-2017 Defensive Player of the Year would be eligible to receive an 8% salary increase in each season of the deal, bringing the total salary to about $139 million over four years.

If Green and the Warriors are unable to reach an extension by the end of the season, he would be eligible for a five-year extension following the season that pays him about $46.9 million in the first season.

As is the case with the extension that he is currently eligible to sign, he would be eligible for an 8% salary increase in each following season, bringing the total value of his deal to just about $275 million over five years.

While Draymond Green is unlikely to sign a contract that will pay him nearly $64 million during a season in which he will turn 38 years old, the Golden State Warriors giving him a four-year deal that pays him about $30 million annually should not be out of the question.

Golden State's defense has already struggled mightily this season. Losing Green, the anchor of the unit for the past decade, would hurt them tremendously on the less flashy side of the ball.

Draymond Green's salary coming into the NBA

Draymond Green entered the NBA as the 35th overall pick of the 2012 NBA Draft. As a second-round pick, Green earned just $2.6 million over the span of the rookie three-year deal. After earning less than $1 million in each of his first three seasons, the last of which was the 2014-2015 championship season, Green was awarded with a five-year, $82 million extension.

Green, who has made two All-NBA teams and seven All-Defensive teams, signed an extension prior to the last year on that deal. His newly signed extension added four years and $99.6 million to the final year of his contract. The final year of his new contract will be 2023-2024. However, as mentioned above, Green does have a player option for next season.
