When former Houston Rocket Vernon Maxwell urged Elon Musk to buy the NBA and remove the Utah Jazz - "It makes me sad to see their fan base heartbroken year after year"

Vernon Maxwell last played in an NBA game all the way back in 2001. However, his dislike for the state of Utah has long outlived that. The former Houston Rockets champion once called on Elon Musk to help get rid of the Utah Jazz.

In one of his routine tweets targeting the state, Maxwell said:

"Elon Musk should buy the NBA and remove the Jazz franchise from the league. Not because America hates Utah but because it makes me sad to see their fan base heartbroken year after year."

Maxwell has not been shy about letting his feelings for the state of Utah be known. He has cited the behavior of Jazz fans during his 13 year playing career as the cause of his disdain for the state.

You farm animals from Utah like to say yā€™all livin rent free in my head & itā€™s true. Each time I played there for 13 seasons I was insulted, called racial slurs, got spat on. Threaten my kids lives. So yea rent free. Itā€™s the worst place in the world to play at. #TakeNote šŸ–•šŸæ twitter.com/wojespn/statusā€¦

Vernon Maxwell's past tweets aimed at Utah

Vernon Maxwell has been quite vocal about his disapproval of the Utah Jazz on Twitter. His team has eliminated the Jazz three times in four postseason matchups, first in the 1994 Western Conference Finals en route to winning their first championship and then again in the 1995 playoffs.

The player has made sure to remind Jazz fans of the same constantly. Here are a couple of them:

God donā€™t like ugly. Thatā€™s why I got 2 championships and UTAH ainā€™t got nothing but pure disappointment. Meet me on the Richmond strip Htown bc tonight we partying like itā€™s 1994.
I know every year when the Jazz loses first round it feels as if Iā€™ve won another championship but the sad reality is I still only have 2 and UTAH HAS NONE. Happy Friday folks!

Although I would like nothing more than to coach in the NBA I respectfully decline the offer from the Utah Jazz. At the end of the day the well being of my family is far more important. Plus I want my grandkids to be able to read before they graduate high school.
I'd like 2 apologize Jazz fans that were offended by my tweets. If I knew u guys had internet in Utah I would've never made those tweets.
Itā€™s understandable to brag and celebrate having the best record in February when your franchiseā€™s biggest accomplishment is food poisoning MJ.
Basketball Poverty is never far when the Utah Jazz are around. Four nationally televised games are too much if you ask me. But thatā€™s better than five! #TakeNote

Former Jazz Donovan Mitchell was often mentioned in Maxwell's tweets as he felt that the star deserved better than to play in Utah. When Mitchell was finally moved, Maxwell made sure to send a congratulatory message.

If the Rockets lose tonight I will not only apologize to all the Jazz fans Iā€™ll also make my return back to Salt Lake Shitty & hold a free Mad Max basketball clinic for all my fans. But if the Rockets win Utah must release Donovan Mitchell & allow him to play for a real city
My heart goes out to the Utah players especially Donovan Mitchell who is a class act. One of the few guys who makes his shoes affordable. You deserve to be in a better place. Houston, Charlotte, Philly, Zimbabwe, hell even OKC.
Donovan Mitchell Congratulations. You deserve to be around civilization. I must address #TakeNote Nation first. The next three years will be miserable, you guys had it coming.

So here is the reason Iā€™m in Utah. I decided to offer a free clinic to the best young shooters in the state as a truce to try and mend my relationship with Utah fans. Here are the best shooters the state had to offer.... https://t.co/ziJgaFP8En
Lets pray for Utah. Not bc anything happened bc nothing ever happens in Utah. Just pray for them bc theyā€™re idiots. Have a great weekend everyone!
This is why everyoneā€™s breath stank and they ainā€™t got no teeth in Utah. twitter.com/fox13/status/1ā€¦

Vernon Maxwell once punched a fan during the middle of a game

Before Ron Artest, there was Vernon Maxwell. During a late-season game against the Portland Trail Blazers in the 1994-1995 season, Maxwell casually walked several rows into the crowd before punching a fan.

times sure have changed. CJ McCollum getting a flagrant foul for *that* reminds me of when Vernon Maxwell walked into the crowd, fought a fan, and just went back to the bench for the timeout huddle like nothing happened. https://t.co/MwVAdV3D94

Maxwell's punch ended up breaking the jaw of the fan and he was suspended for ten games and fined for his actions. He claimed that the fan began by making racial remarks. Upon getting no response from the player, the fan switched his attention to his daughter, as well as his wife's recent miscarriage.

The fan denied Maxwell's allegations and claimed that he simply commented on the fact that he had only scored five points at the end of the third quarter.
