When Michael Jordan’s insult for Charles Barkley made the latter pull all stops to get better at golf: “All I got was a good nap"

Back in 2005, Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley appeared for an interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The two NBA legends are both golf aficionados and have been long-time playing partners. During the interview, Jordan claimed that Barkley used to be a great player, but had lost his touch of late due to a specific teacher that he went to.

Charles Barkley claimed that Jordan had stopped playing with him because he was so “bad.” According to the former Chicago Bulls player, Barkley used to be good. He said:

“Well, he’s sick. He’s got a sickness. I guess he went to a guy — he used to be really good. People don’t realize when they see him on TV that he used to shoot 75, 76, 77. And he went to this instructor; this instructor says, ‘Make it seem like you’re stopping up top so you can get your tempo.’ He hasn’t started since.”
“I mean he’s sick. He’s got a sickness...”

Needless to say, Opah was left puzzled. Barkley went on to claim that he had developed a mental block and had no idea how to get his form back:

“I have a mental block. I do. I have no idea how it started and I’ve tried everything. I got hypnotize. All I got was a good nap.”

Here's to hoping that Barkley is eventually able to return to his A-game. The former Philadelphia 76ers player has golfed with Michael Jordan multiple times since the incident took place!

Michael Jordan once bet Charles Barkley $300k for a hole

During an interview, Barkley revealed that Michael Jordan had bet him $300k for a hole once. The 6-time NBA champion is obviously one of the richest basketball players of all time as well.

Charles Barkley claimed that the he was simply joking around with Jordan, who wanted to get on with the game. The two would often play for “a couple of hundred dollars.” However, Jordan decided to raise the stakes. He said:

"We'd be playing golf with certain people, for a couple hundred dollars a hole, nothing big, and he'd be playing some guy for $100,000. He's like, 'Charles, pick that up.' I'm like, 'This putt is for $200.'

He continued:

He's like, 'Pick that up, Charles, get out of my way, you're in my line.' I'm like, 'How much is that putt for?' He's like, '$300,000.' I said, 'Let me get out of your line.' It was crazy man."

Needless to say, even Charles Barkley was surprised by the number and decided to let Jordan continue the game!
