When Michael Jordan's wife Yvette Prieto and the Chicago Bulls legend had a $10 million wedding and donated it all to charity

Michael Jordan had a legendary career on the basketball court. He is widely regarded as the greatest player to ever play the sport.

Off the court, Jordan has been very successful in multiple business ventures, building a $2.2 billion net worth. The six-time NBA champion used his wedding as an opportunity for him and his bride, Yvette Prieto, to show their generosity with a very charitable act.

While Jordan's wedding reportedly cost him $10 million, rather than accepting gifts from his guests, the five-time NBA MVP chose to have them donate to the James R. Jordan Foundation. The James R. Jordan Foundation is a charity aimed at supporting local youth and families. It was started by Jordan and his mother in memory of his late father, who was tragically murdered.

Jordan and Prieto also donated their wedding flowers to Jupiter Medical Center. The hospital is located in Palm Beach, Florida.

Who is Yvette Prieto?

Michael Jordan met his wife, Yvette Prieto, at a Miami nightclub in 2008. The couple moved in together the following year before getting engaged in 2011. They would finally tie the knot in 2013.

Prior to meeting the Chicago Bulls legend, Prieto mostly worked as a model, most notably for Alexander Wang. She also worked for a Miami-based management company, Aqua Management, and was a manager at Beet the LBs. Furthermore, she spent time working for her father, as well as working at a hospital.

Prieto appears to have retired from the workforce after marrying Jordan. She has seemingly settled into a role as a stay-at-home mother to her twin daughters with the NBA Hall of Famer.

The terms of Jordan and Prieto's prenuptial agreement ensure that Prieto will be taken care of if the couple ever parted ways. She would be guaranteed $1 million for every year that they were married. In April 2023, however, that number will rise to $5 million for every year that they have been married.
