Where does LeBron James rank in all-time regular-season games played rankings? Predicting where he could finish on the list by retirement

LA Lakers star forward LeBron James moved into ninth place on the NBA’s all-time regular-season games played list on Wednesday night versus the New Orleans Pelicans.

James has played in a whopping 1,411 career games over his 20-year career. As a result, he is now just 200 games away from NBA legend Robert Parish’s first-place record of 1,611 regular-season games played. With James still going strong, it appears that he should have a very strong chance to eventually surpass Parish.

James has played in 45 of the Lakers’ 59 games this season, with 23 games left to be played. Over his previous four seasons with LA, James played an average of around 56 games per season. So assuming he continues at a similar pace, it should take him around four more seasons to become the NBA’s all-time games played leader. James would be 42 years old by then. But, considering he is still averaging 30.0 points per game at the age of 38, it seems unlikely he will retire anytime soon.

As for where James ranks in all-time playoff games played, he is already first. James has played a record total of 266 playoff games throughout his career. The next closest active player is Golden State Warriors veteran forward Andre Iguodala, who has played in 177 career playoff games.

Iguodala is followed by Cleveland Cavaliers veteran wing Danny Green at 165 games and Phoenix Suns superstar forward Kevin Durant at 155 games played. So even if the Lakers (27-32, 13th in the West) once again miss the playoffs, James’ record will still be safe for the foreseeable future.
