Serbia will play Australia on Tuesday, August 6 with tip-off at 8:30 a.m. EST (5:30 a.m. PST). The game will take place at the Bercy Arena in Paris, which has a capacity of 20,300. The game will be available on stream on Peacock and also on NBCOlympics.com.

Serbia vs Australia: Preview

Serbia will enter the game as slight favorites after a strong showing in the group phase. After a sluggish start versus the USA, coach Svetislav Pešić's side impressed in their final group stage games versus Puerto Rico and South Sudan, winning by an average score of 26 points in those two games.

Australia enters the quarter-finals coming off back-to-back losses against Canada and Greece. Despite the poor results, there are plenty of reasons for the Australians to be optimistic going into the knockout rounds.

The Boomers' backcourt partnership of Josh Giddey and Patty Mills has been exceptional in the group stage and center Jock Landale has been a major contributor in the post. The three players are averaging a combined 46 points per game during the competition.

These two teams faced off twice in the 2020 Olympics basketball competition in Toyko. Australia emerged victorious in the group stage with a 95-80 win but Serbia dominated their opponents 87-61 in the semi-finals and went on to win the silver medal.

Nikola Jokic will be the headline name on display in this Olympics basketball quarter-final. The Serbians will look to their center to guide them back to the semi-finals, where they would face the winner of the United States versus Brazil game.

Jokic is a three-time NBA MVP and led the Denver Nuggets to their first league championship in 2023. He is averaging a double-double per game in the tournament so far, with 18.7 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists over three matches.

Josh Giddey will be the man to keep an eye on for Australia. The Boomers rising star has been in scintillating form at the tournament. At just 21 years old, Giddey has shown that he has the poise and maturity required to lead this team. Giddey is averaging 15 points, 8.7 rebounds and 6.7 assists over his last three games.

If Australia are to have any chance of upsetting a talented Serbia side, the young Chicago Bulls star will have to be at his best on Tuesday.
