Who has scored most triple-doubles in NBA History? Entire record explored
Russell Westbrook holds the record for the most triple-doubles in NBA history. The veteran point guard has had many amazing seasons in the league, and his athleticism has helped him become a fantastic rebounder.
Just a decade ago, breaking Oscar Robertson's triple-double record was considered impossible. However, Westbrook's incredible performances have boosted him all the way to the top of the list.
Not only does the LA Clippers guard have the most triple-doubles in NBA history, but recording triple-doubles has become much easier in recent years. This used to be an impressive feat that was rarely recorded, yet it's very common in the 2022-23 season.
Russell Westbrook holds the record for the most triple-doubles in NBA history, but it may be broken soon
Russell Westbrook won his first and only NBA MVP award after averaging a triple-double in the 2016-17 season. The 6-foot-3 guard played for the OKC Thunder back then, averaging 31.6 ppg, 10.7 rpg and 10.4 apg.
The athletic guard averaged a triple-double for two more seasons in a row, which was very impressive. As of March 3, 2023, Westbrook has four seasons in which he's averaged a triple-double. He led the league in assists in three of them, while also being the top scorer during his MVP campaign.
Back in May 2021, Westbrook played for the Washington Wizards and broke the record for the most triple-doubles in NBA history. With his 182nd triple-double, the former MVP surpassed Oscar Robertson, who held the record for a few decades.

Westbrook is now 34 and he's nowhere near as athletic as he was during his prime. However, he's recorded four triple-doubles in the 2022-23 season, getting his total to 198. Due to this, he'll likely become the first player in the league's history to record 200 triple-doubles.
LeBron James ranks second in triple-doubles among active players. He's recorded 107 of them, good for the fourth spot on the list. The LA Lakers superstar trails only Oscar Robertson (181) and Magic Johnson (138).
While James has shown no signs of slowing down, it's unlikely that he'll move up the list. As impressive as he is, he's only recorded two triple-doubles during the 2022-23 season.

While Westbrook has the most triple-doubles in NBA history at the moment, his record could be broken by Nikola Jokic or Luka Doncic. Both are in their primes and will likely dethrone the guard in less than a decade.
