Zion Williamson injury update: Zion Williamson ruled out for multiple weeks as New Orleans Pelicans star suffers hamstring injury

Zion Williamson will miss multiple weeks due to a hamstring injury suffered in Tuesday night's 120-111 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. The New Orleans Pelicans star was forced to leave the contest late in the third quarter after suffering an injury and did not return to the court.

ESPN analyst Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news as he tweeted:

"New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson is expected to miss multiple weeks with a hamstring strain, sources tell ESPN. Williamson underwent an MRI today."

Williamson has struggled to stay healthy in his short NBA career. Now in his fourth season, the one-time All-Star has played just 114 out of a potential 263 games at this stage of his career. Williamson had suited up in 29 of the Pelicans 37 games this season and appeared en route to his second All-Star appearance.

He is averaging 27.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.6 blocks per game. Williamson is shooting 60.8% from the field, 36.8% from 3-point range, and 71.4% from the free-throw line.

It is unclear if the New Orleans Pelicans will be able to weather the storm with both Zion Williamson and co-star Brandon Ingram on the shelf. New Orleans is currently 23-14 and just one game behind first place in the Western Conference.
