PUBG Mobile World Cup (PMWC) 2024 to not feature any Indian BGMI team
All 28 teams for the PUBG Mobile World Cup (PMWC) 2024 have now been confirmed. Among these are Vampire and Power Esports, who've been directly invited to the competition. With that, it's clear that no Indian BGMI team will be seen playing at the World Cup. Fans were hoping that the country would at least get one spot in the tournament but were once again disappointed.
PUBG Mobile has been banned in India for more than three years now (as of June 20, 2024). Despite this, Indian teams related to this title were invited to the PMGC and PMWI in 2022.
Fans had initially anticipated that the winner of the ongoing BGIS 2024 would get a berth in the PMWC, as the event is a part of the Mega Esports World Cup, which will be held in Saudi Arabia. However, no team from the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2024 got an invite to compete in the PMWC.
It has been almost two years since an Indian squad has participated in an international PUBG Mobile tournament. The World Cup is slated to be conducted from July 19 to 28, with 28 teams competing for a grand prize pool of $3 million. It will be played in three stages and using a 10-point scoring system.

These two are the only specially invited participants. Reject from Japan has qualified for this World Cup after winning the PMGO 2024, an international tournament.
Except for these three teams, all the remaining 25 participants have been selected from the regional tournaments. Among them, 24 squads will play in the Group Stage, while the other four will directly enter the Survival Stage of the PMWC.
16 Indian teams are all set to fight in the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2024 Finals. This is an official tournament that boasts a total prize pool of ₹2 crore ($240K). The first edition of this event had one slot for the PUBG Mobile World Championship 2022, but its second and third seasons didn't get any spot in an international PUBG Mobile event.
