5 times Hugh Jackman shocked the world with his body transformations
Hugh Jackman is well-known for his give-it-all attitude and insane physical transformations in his movies. The Australian is once again making headlines for the amazing bulk he added for Deadpool & Wolverine with Ryan Reynolds. However, this is not the first time he has achieved such a feat.
We take a look at five of Hugh Jackman's incredible body transformations over the years:
#5 Hugh Jackman's transformation for X-Men (2000)
The tales of Jackman's physical transformation began in 2000 when he did his first X-Men movie in which he played Wolverine. Before this role, the Aussie was known for his singing and dancing talents. But everything changed when he transformed into the biggest version of himself and reached 215 pounds for the role.
According to a report by Men's Journal, the director wanted Wolverine to be ultra-massive. So Jackman went on a carb cycle and ate around 6,000 calories per day to achieve the immense physique for the role of Wolverine.
#4 X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)
Jackman was 38 by the time Wolverine 2 released in 2006. He was featured in a tank top in the movie, showcasing his immense muscular frame. He added layers of muscle and displayed his shredded biceps and upper body in the movie, and his fans loved the shredded version.
#3 The Wolverine (2013)
This is the part where all the magic happens and the Hollywood sensation becomes an on-screen mutant. Fitness trainer David Kingsbury trained Jackman for the role and made him look as lean as possible at the time. Kingsbury curated a specific diet for the actor that allowed him to build more muscle, like a real Wolverine. Hugh Jackman was able to deadlift 410 pounds with the diet, Kingsbury later revealed in an interview.
#2 Logan (2017)
By the time Logan was released, the Austrian actor was in his 50s and had lost a significant amount of muscle from his previous movie. However, he was still in magnificent shape, as evidenced by his six-pack in the movie. Kingsbury also trained Jackman for his role in Logan. The fitness coach made a four-week schedule for the actor, primarily focusing on weight training and a strict diet that achieved the desired outcome.
#1 Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)
Despite being 55 years old while filming Deadpool & Wolverine, Jackman is still in excellent physical shape. For his current role, he went back to his X-Men (2000) diet and consumed 6,000 calories a day to achieve the bulk the character required. Kingsbury helped the Aussie actor once again with an intense workout regimen. This time, the Aussie focused on cardio in the cut phase and compound movements in the bulk phase (as per manofmany.com).
