Arnold Schwarzenegger once gave up his most loved possession to save the environment

In the early 1990s, Arnold Schwarzenegger, the former governor of California, played a vital role in making 'Humvees' or the 'Hummer' available to the public. The military grade SUV has enjoyed a successful run in the market since then.

Schwarzenegger, himself, has a whole fleet of Hummers in his car collection. However, while serving as the Governor of California from 2003 to 2011, Schwarzenegger signed the Global Warming Solutions Act in 2006 to help protect the environment.

Since then, the bodybuilding legend has converted his beloved Hummers to a more eco-friendly option. He converted them to electric and bio-fueled vehicles. Arnold encouraged others to make the switch as well, saying:

"We should not make people guilty about driving big or fast or powerful cars but we should let them know that they can be part of the solution by changing the technology in their cars."
"For example, my Hummers are now biofuel and hydrogen and one of them is being converted to electric right now. We don’t have to make people feel guilty."
"If you want to sit in your Jacuzzi all day long do it, but have solar panels. We need to make people feel part of the solution and make the environment movement more hip, snappy, modern and sexy," the Terminator concluded.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's electric car collection

1. Custom Kreisel Hummer

Arnold Schwarzenegger was the first person to own an electric and bio-gas-fueled Hummer. In 2017, he got his Hummer converted from Kreisel, and his car now can give him a range of 185 miles instead of single-digit mileage. The Terminator's EV Hummer is packed with a 100-kilowatt-hour battery. Upon receiving his car, he said:

"Finally, my dream of turning my Hummer fully electric is a reality. We are moving so quickly toward a clean energy future." (via Sun.com)

2. Custom Kreisel Electric G500

Arnold Schwarzenegger bought his second EV car from the same brand he got his Hummer converted. This car is packed with two electric motors pumping out 482 horsepower and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds. Arnold Schwarzenegger paid a hefty amount of $1 million to Kreisel for converting the Mercedes G-Wagen (via Top Speed).
