“His life, it’s a living hell” - Greg Doucette backs Eric Janicki’s choice to abandon pro card pursuit
IFBB pro Greg Doucette continues to remain one of the most important components of the fitness industry. Despite not competing for quite a while, he uses his social media presence to educate the viewers about the dos and don'ts of bodybuilding. Doucette recently posted a video about Eric Janicki’s decision to retire from competitive bodybuilding.
The world of bodybuilding has witnessed several fitness influencers venturing into the discipline. Another name in this long list is Janicki. Despite being a mass monster, he couldn’t secure his pro card during his recent show and decided to quit the sport. Realizing he doesn’t have the genetics for competitive bodybuilding, Janicki made a YouTube video on it. Reacting to this, Greg Doucette gave his two cents on the matter.
Agreeing with Janicki, Doucette pointed out how tough it is to lean down before a show. Stating that Janicki has already established a legacy in the fitness circle, Doucette believes it is useless for him to put his health at stake, all just for a pro card.
“He can barely get through 15 minutes at a time. Can’t think what I’m going to do now or can barely get through 15 minutes, having to take time out in the bathroom, put his head down, having to sit differently so he can stand up. His life, it’s a living hell. And all for an IFBB Pro card,” Doucette said on his YouTube channel (05:52).
While Janicki insisted he had accepted his defeat and was ready to move on, Doucette felt it was the right thing to do. Having competed naturally and also as an enhanced athlete, Doucette boasts decades of experience. He believes Janicki’s muscle belly insertions and body shape are not suitable for competitive bodybuilding despite looking phenomenally well to the untrained eye.
Greg Doucette bashes Tren Twins and Dr. Mike Israetel’s stubbornness
Just a short while back, fitness influencers and current internet sensations Tren Twins and Dr. Mike Israetel also tried their luck on an amateur stage. While they didn’t secure a win, they still look incredibly motivated to pursue their pro-card dreams.
While Israetel blamed his tan for his defeat, Greg Doucette believes neither the Tren Twins nor Israetel was lean enough to win the show.
“If Eric Janicki is struggling to win a pro card, what about the Tren Twins, what about Mike Israetel? Mike Israetel and the Tren Twins are so far below a guy like Eric Janicki in terms of the size, the muscularity, the conditioning, and yet these guys, they want a pro card. But For what? And why? Why would I take years off my life, abuse performance-enhancing drugs to get this thing. This thing called a pro card when you don’t need this thing,” he said on the same video (07:12).
