How many times did Kevin Levrone get 2nd place at Mr. Olympia?
Bodybuilding legend Kevin Levrone is considered one of the best bodybuilders from the 90s era. Having defeated bodybuilding giants like Ronnie Coleman and many others, Levrone competed in Mr. Olympia around 14 times in his career.
Unfortunately, the American giant could never secure an Olympia win. For this very reason, fans of the sport regard him as ‘The Uncrowned King.’ Despite displaying a mass monster physique, Levrone came second four times throughout his career.
Making his debut back in 1991 at the NPC Junior Nationals, it wasn’t until he competed for the second time at the NPC Nationals that he secured his first-ever bodybuilding show. Inspired and motivated by this, Levrone decided to continue his bodybuilding career and step on the Olympia stage in order to fulfil his lifelong dream of lifting the Sandow trophy.
Unfortunately, Levrone was always at the wrong place at the wrong time. When he made his debut back in 1992, six-time Mr. Olympia legend Dorian Yates was dominating the sport with his freaky build.
Two years later, in 1994, when Yates finally decided to step back from competitive bodybuilding, Levrone and most of the fans thought this would be the time when Levrone finally established his legacy in Olympia.
However, another strong name emerged out of the dust and went on to win the title eight consecutive times. Ronnie Coleman, who got defeated by Levrone multiple times, later learned a trick from ‘The Uncrowned King,’ and went on to defeat Kevin Levrone.
Kevin Levrone taught rival Ronnie Coleman a secret trick
Ronnie Coleman, who was annoyed after losing to Levrone multiple times, decided to go talk to him in order to learn his secret to being so lean and shredded on the stage. Months ago in a resurfaced clip of Ronnie Coleman, he revealed what Levrone told him:
“Pulls up a cup of coffee, pulls up a bottle of vodka, and pours it into the coffee. Drink this…This is what I do every single night.
“So I drank the vodka and coffee the next day at the show, and I beat Kevin. I messed up this little streak that was going. I think that was the last time Kevin Levrone ever beat me.”
Kevin Levrone, despite coming second at the Mr. Olympia multiple times, inspired countless individuals to take up fitness and bodybuilding. Winning a total of 23 pro shows throughout his career, which was a record back then, Levrone established his legacy as a bodybuilding legend.
