Is Larry Wheels still on steroids?
Elite powerlifting sensation Larry Wheels recently admitted that he had gotten back to using steroids. He had earlier stopped but admitted in a recent video that he faced a relapse.
Wheels has been lifting for years now. Having created multiple records in the world of powerlifting, the 29-year-old beast has ventured into various sports throughout his illustrious career. Apart from just powerlifting, he's also had an incredible career in arm wrestling. Training with various bodybuilding giants over the years, his unreal strength never ceases to amaze people.
Over the years, his incredible strength has often raised questions about his steroid usage. Wheels has been open about using performance-enhancing drugs in the past. Deadlifting a mind-numbing 900 lbs is definitely not a child’s play, especially without the usage of anabolic steroids.
A few months ago, Larry Wheels also decided to step foot on the competitive bodybuilding stage and win his IFBB Pro card. While winning a pro card does not come easy for anyone, it also requires using drugs.
Larry Wheels decided to stop taking steroids back in August 2022. However, he relapsed and started a cycle once again after he decided to step on a bodybuilding stage. In a video on his YouTube channel, he revealed:
“I faced several challenges with my company PR that led me to go into panic mode and make a decision to pursue bodybuilding in an attempt to bring more eyeballs on what I’m doing and in turn help my brand get back to where it was and even better."
Having tried his luck on the bodybuilding stage and failing by just a few points, Wheels later decided to quit bodybuilding. He realised the toll that his body was under due to performance-enhancing drugs. In a video posted a few weeks ago, he opened up about his relapsing, saying (03:30):
“Me hopping back on steroids is going against everything I said I would do…I don’t even like myself when I’m deep in prep as a bodybuilder.”
Larry Wheels is using hormone replacement therapy
Even though Larry Wheels has been off of steroids now, he admits to using testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). He said (via Barbend):
“I’ve been on PEDs and hitting PRs the last decade […] I know if I push the envelope enough, if I go to the extremes enough, I can get [to a 1,000-pound deadlift]. But what I don’t know is how will I perform without all of that assistance.”
Larry Wheels’ decision to quit bodybuilding and come off steroids seems like a wise one. Being just 29 years old at the moment, he has already established his legacy in the realm of fitness and bodybuilding.
The world of fitness and bodybuilding has already lost numerous lives because of steroid abuse. Inspiring many lives through his social media, Wheels’ announcement of quitting steroids will definitely send the right message to the youth.
