“Milk and pig fat”: 'The Boys' star Antony Starr reveals his favorite cheat meal ideas
If you are even slightly interested in superheroes and OTT content, chances are that you might be aware of 'The Boys' starring Antony Starr. Even if you don't consume such content, you must have witnessed the currently popular 'Homelander' memes. Often compared to Superman's Henry Cavill, Starr, who plays the role of a narcissistic superhero in 'The Boys' looks extremely fit and muscular in the series.
During a recent video with Men's Health, Antony Starr revealed details of his workout and diet that he follows to live up to the audience's expectations of a superhero. Despite being in his late 40s, Starr follows a strict workout regimen that compliments his healthy eating habits. However, he also revealed that he treats himself to some cheat meals whenever he is not shooting. The 48-year-old said:
"Homelander's cheat meals? Milkshakes, burgers with extra thick buns, and then maybe...frosty cone...it's basically like milk and pig fat...washed down with another thick creamy milkshake." (04:31)
However, Antony Starr also clarified that he only eats such meals when he is not shooting for the show. Being on the sets for seven to eight months in a year, he consumes the same diet week after week to fit into the perfectly tailored Homelander suit.
"The nature of the suits, they are very form-fitting, So I have to keep myself almost exactly the same shape for the entire 7-8 months of the shoot," he said. (03:50)
Antony Starr delves deep into the challenges of playing a superhero
During the same interview with Men's Health, Antony Starr spoke about the challenges of maintaining his diet and training regimen during season one of 'The Boys'.
"The hardest thing for me is combining the diet and training together to work in sync because balance for me is a monthly thing, not a daily thing...The toughest diet I have ever done for a role would have been preparing for season one for 'The Boys', getting into that spandex, maintaining the exact same shape for 6-8 months, that's tricky," he said. After talking about his love for pasta and burgers, Anthony Starr also revealed that his secret protein shake recipe includes a tablespoon of peanut butter to give it more texture.
Even though Anthony Starr hasn't gone through any significant fitness transformations like his peer Laz Alonso, his consistency and work ethic are commendable. Despite there being no official confirmation from the producers about the show's future, the cast has assured fans of a bright future for the series from time to time.
