“Who is that” - ‘Mother’s Milk’ star Laz Alonso from 'The Boys' jokingly doubted Amazon, only to realize he had gained too much weight
The world of Hollywood is no stranger to insane physical transformations at this point. The recent talk of the town amongst Hollywood stars has been of Laz Alonso.
The star, who plays 'Mother's Milk' in the ongoing TV show 'The Boys' recently admitted gaining weight during the Covid-19 pandemic as a result of binge eating. Delving deep into his then-messed-up eating habits, he stated via the Men's Health YouTube channel:
"I was heavy on caloric surplus when I first started this show. Seasons 1 and 2, I wanted to look like a comic. Season 3 we shot during and after covid and I went from looking like the comic to looking like a very inflated version of the comic."
Continuing further, he narrated a hilarious moment where he jokingly accused Amazon Prime, who is the streaming partner of 'The Boys', to have added fake weight to his physique.
"It didn't hit until I saw the promotional posters for season 3 and I saw my face and I was like who the heck is that and I actually asked Amazon if they had added weight to me. I didn't realise how big I had gotten for a guy that's 6 ft with shoes on I was pushing 250 (lbs)," he said.
Laz Alonso's redemption tale
Confessing that the added weight was a result of eating a lot of pizza, eating a lot of burgers, Laz Alonso decided to take matters into his own hands and underwent a remarkable transformation. Alonso also gave himself a makeover to adjust to the changing needs of the script. He said (via the aforementioned source):
"I went into an extreme calorie reduction. I shaved because now he reports directly to the White House..this guy is back to his regimented military way of running things and you'll see that as the season progress."
Fans were left amazed over his insane transformation. So much so, that many continue to believe that Laz Alonso has been replaced with another actor for Season 04.
However, Alonso also acknowledges that making such a transformation and maintaining it is not a child's play. Referring to his look in Season 03 as "Mother's Butter Milk," Laz Alonso stated:
"It's tough to workout and eat healthy during production."
Opening up about his co-stars, Laz Alonso pointed out the contrast among his fellow actors. While Karl Urban enjoys chicken and salad more, Karen Fukuhara is a foodie. Hilariously talking about Tomer Capone, Alonso stated:
"Thinks he knows everything" and "9 out of 10 times, he's wrong."
Season 4 of 'The Boys' is airing on Amazon Prime and the show has already garnered a massive amount of fanbase. Despite there being a lack of clear response about the future of the show, the stars have multiple times assured the fans that there will be a next season or a finale movie to end the story on a good note.
