Best boxing ratings since 2006 by Canelo-Kirkland bout
The Canelo-Kirkland bout lived up to its hype. The network announced that the Junior Middleweight bout between Canelo Alvarez and James Kirkland brought a record number of viewership on HBO World Championship Boxing with an average of 2,146,000 for the live, first time airing on HBO and peaked at 2,296,000 viewers.
And since the bout between Antonio Tarver-Bernard Hopkins for the light heavyweight championship, that generated 2,460,000 viewers in 2006, this is the most top performing bout. The fight which Alvarez won via thrilling third round KO also marked the Mexican superstars first appearance as a headliner in World Championship Boxing Platform.

“Given his sizzling, fan-friendly performance in knocking out James Kirkland, attendance and viewership will only continue to soar. Boxing’s future is now.”
