Kell Brook to face Brandon Rios at the end of summer

Kell Brook retained his IBF welterweight title against Frankie Gavin

The IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook(35-0, 24 knockouts) is on a roll as he defeated Frankie Gavin in London, England. And he now wants to face American contender Brandon Rios for the for late August showdown. If he manages a win there, it would make a hat-trick of defences n exactly five months. It’s just amazing how this 28 year old Sheffield boxer bounced back from a  horrific life-threatening machete attack he sustained during a holiday Tenerife last September.

Brook outclassed his countryman Frankie Gavin at the London O2 Arena, as he ended the bout in the sixth round. Talking to the Sky Sports News HQ, here’s what the Englishman said about his August 29th fight with Rios (33-2-1, 24 KOs):

“There’s talk about Brandon Rios and that’s a fight that really excites me, We all know Brandon Rios comes to fight. He loves to be entertaining for the fans and that’s what I want to do. I want to give an all-action fight and he’s the prefect candidate for the job.”

When asked about his rival Amir Khan, who had a massive victory over American Chris Algieri last Friday. Brook said:

“Let’s leave him to do whatever he’s doing and whoever he’s fighting. The fact is I am world champion and I have all these challengers wanting to take the belt off me. So I am going to be involved in some massive fights.”

Sky Sports posted the comparison of Brook and Rios on their twitter handle:

Brook vs Rios will be taking place on August 29 at the Sheffield United FC’s Bramall Lane stadium. Will a win for Brook lead him to Mayweather ??
