Manny Pacquiao to be sued by fans for concealing shoulder injury
Filipino boxer Manny Pacquaio was sued by two fans in a U.S court today for hiding his shoulder injury. The fans say they felt defrauded, after paying a lot of money to watch the ‘fight of the century’.
The lawsuit has been filed by two American nationals, Kami Rahbaran and Stephanie Vanel in a Federal court in Nevada. The law under which the complaint has been filed aims to protect consumers.
Top Rank Inc, the company that represents Pacquiao has also been named as a defendant in the case. However, an attempt to contact the representatives of the defendants didn’t bear fruit as they did not return calls.
The sum is said to be somewhere around the region of $ 5 million.
Earlier, Pacquiao lost the ‘fight of the century’ to Floyd Mayweather in what became the richest event in sporting history. However, minutes after the loss, Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum revealed that the boxer was not allowed to take an injection for a nursing shoulder injury.
Neither Pacquaio nor his team had informed the Nevada Athletic association about the injury, until a couple of hours before the fight.
