Miguel Cotto vs. Canelo Alvarez close but not a 100% done deal
The much-anticipated contest between the current WBC, Lineal & The Ring World Middleweight Champion, Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez is not a done deal yet. But it remains “close” as confirmed by a spokesperson at Golden Boy Promotions. The famous ESPN boxing writer Dan Rafael tweeted that the fight may happen in Las Vegas on Nov. 21, just before Thanksgiving and he also justified the reason for having the fight on that day.
His tweets:
Not 100% done just yet but I'm told #CottoCanelo will be 11/21 at Mandalay Bay. Good deal for every1 & HBO PPV gets preferred date. #boxing

11/21 works well in LV for #CottoCanelo because better date for HBO than 11/7 & 11/19 at MGM is Latin Grammys. Main audience already in city

Cotto vs. Canelo is expected to happen at a possible catch weight of 155 pounds for the middleweight belt as Alvarez is a junior middleweight and Cotto fights well under 160-pound limit. Let’s just hope that negotiations between two sides end well, and this fight between the two heavy-handed knockout aficionados happen. Will it be one of those classic Puerto Rico vs. Mexico rivalry fight ?
