Famous Punjabi singer dedicates Chandigarh concert to World Chess Champion Gukesh D

On Saturday, December 14, singer Diljit Dosanjh took to Instagram to dedicate his Chandigarh concern to the new World Chess Champion Gukesh D, hailing the Chennai-born Grandmaster for achieving his dream.

On Thursday, December 12, Indian Grandmaster Gukesh clinched the World Chess Championship title after defeating the reigning champion, Ding Liren of China.

Diljit, who performed in Chandigarh on Saturday, shared a video from his speech on his official Instagram handle. The show was part of his 'Dil-Luminati India Tour 2024.'

In the clip, Diljit can be seen starting with his famous line, 'Punjabi Aa Gaye Oye.'

"Today's show is dedicated to world chess champion Gukesh. Do you know why it is dedicated to him? Because whatever you think in life, he has already thought about becoming a world champion. And he became that. Problems are there, I face them daily,” Diljit then continued in Punjabi.

Gukesh D receives praise from Elon Musk and Sundar Pichai

After emerging as the youngest world chess champion at the age of 18, Gukesh received heaps of praise from various sportspersons and world leaders. Established tech leaders Elon Musk (Tesla CEO) and Sundar Pichai (Google CEO) also queued up to congratulate the Indian Grandmaster.

“Congratulations,” wrote Elon Musk on X.
“Congrats to Gukesh D, incredible to become the youngest World Chess Champion at 18,” tweeted Sundar Pichai.

Gukesh was born in 2006 to a Telugu-speaking family in Chennai. He studied at Velammal Nexus School and started playing chess at the age of seven.

At the age of 12, Gukesh received the title of Grandmaster, the highest rank in chess. With this, he emerged as the youngest Indian and third-youngest player in the world to achieve the title.

In 2019, Gukesh, during an interview at the Gibraltar International Chess Festival, said chess is 'complex,' and that's the reason he loves playing it, and would love to become a world champion in the future.

At the age of 18, Gukesh D turned out to be an inspiration for millions of chess players across the globe.
