FIDE World Junior Chess Championships U20 2024: India's Divya Deshmukh takes sole lead in the women's section
In the ongoing FIDE World Junior Chess Championships U20 2024, Asian women's chess champion Divya Deshmukh stunned Ayan Allahverdiyeva from Azerbaijan to take a sole lead in the women’s section standings by 0.5 points in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
In the open section, World U14 chess champion Ilamparthi AR turned out to be the best player for India, grabbing the fifth rank in the tally with 4.5 points, thanks to his win over fellow compatriot Adireddy Arjun.
Pranav Anand (4.5) and Prraneeth Vuppala (4.5) are the other two Indians inside the top 10 standings, while Nandhish VS (4.5), Mayank Chakraborty (4), Ayusha Sharma (4) and Harshit Pawar (4) occupied the top 20 standings in the open section.
Moving to the women's standings, Kashthuri Bhai (4.5) and Rakshitta Ravi (4.5) are the two players in the top 10 besides Divya. Sachi Jain (4.5), Rindhiya V (4), Sneha Haider (4), Bhagyanshree Patil (4), and Dakshita Kumawar (4) are the other players inside the FIDE World Junior Chess Championships top 20.
