World Chess Championship 2024: Gukesh and Ding Liren settle for a draw in Game 10

The 10th game of the ongoing World Chess Championship 2024 between the defending champion Ding Liren and the Indian Grandmaster Gukesh ended in a draw after 36 moves at the Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore.

The World Chess Championship final scores are currently tied at 5-5 with four games to go. It’s important to note that a tiebreaker will be scheduled to determine the ultimate champion if the final concludes in a tie after all 14 games.

Moving into the details of Game 10, Gukesh was 22 minutes behind on the clock by move 10. Gukesh's interesting move made Ding Liren think deeply, taking almost 25 minutes to respond.

Ding Liren, who was playing the game with white pieces, started off the round with a London System opening. Both players came into this game after the third rest day.

Moving into the details of the overall World Championship final, Ding Liren started off with an early lead in Game 1. Subsequently, the pair agreed to a draw in Game 2. Gukesh went on to bag an exceptional win in the third game as Liren ran out the clock.

Games 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 ended in a draw. It’s worth noting that there will be 14 games in the World Chess Championship. The first player to bag 7.5 points will secure the World Champion title.
