3 Big 12 college baseball pitchers who will be a bust in 2025 season ft. Mac Heuer

The 2025 NCAA Baseball season will now be the key focus of college baseball fans following the conclusion of the 2024 MLB draft. Each team will be keen to add to their rosters in the off-season with the aim of achieving goals set for their respective programs.

While some pitchers turn out to be diamonds on the mound, others may struggle to keep up. Here, let's look at three pitchers from the Big 12 who could endure a difficult 2025 NCAA Baseball season.

Three Big 12 pitchers who could struggle in the 2025 NCAA Baseball season

3. Mason Green, Baylor

After enjoying success with Cy Woods High School, Green enrolled at Baylor to play college baseball. However, his freshman season this year was not one to remember. He finished a dismal 2-6 while recording 38 strikeouts with an ERA of 7.20 in 40.0 innings pitched.

With starting pitcher Mason Marriott called up to the MLB by the Arizona Diamondbacks, Green will be expected to make a bigger contribution to the Bears in 2025. However, he might struggle to handle the immense pressure that would come with it.

2. Cutter Clawson, BYU

The Washington Nationals drafted Clawson in the 33rd round of the 2019 MLB draft. While he chose to play college baseball with the Cougars, his sophomore season this year was not quite impressive.

This year, he went a miserable 0-7 while recording 40 strikeouts with an ERA of 8.10 in 40.0 innings pitched. At this rate, 2025 looks likely to be another difficult year for Clawson, given how competition is improving in the Big 12.

1. Mac Heuer, Texas Tech

Heuer came to the Red Raiders as the 35th-ranked prospect in the Top-75 Freshman list as per Perfect Game. He endured a difficult freshman season in which the Red Raiders were the second-worst pitching team in terms of ERA (6.19).

Heuer went 4-5 while recording 46 strikeouts with an ERA of 5.94 in 47.0 innings pitched. His WHIP of 1.53 also highlights the struggles he faced on the mound this year, which could continue in the 2025 season as well.
