Dylan Dreiling MLB Draft 2024: Top 5 landing spots for Tennessee star ft. Philadelphia Phillies
College World Series Most Outstanding Player Dylan Dreiling called the attention of Major League Baseball scouts and experts, who placed him low in prospect and draft rankings.
On Monday, Dreiling capped off his amazing sophomore year, leading the Tennessee Volunteers to a 6-5 win over the Texas A&M Aggies in Game 3 of the College World Series final and annexing the first national championship in school history.
Here are the top landing spots for the CWS Most Outstanding Player in the MLB Draft 2024.
5 landing spots for Dylan Dreiling in the 2024 MLB Draft
#5. Tampa Bay Rays
The Tampa Bay Rays would need a power bat who can immediately produce when called up. The Rays only have 67 home runs as a team this season and Dylan Dreiling could provide a ton of help in the department when picked in the 2024 MLB Draft.
His home run-hitting abilities could be a shot in the arm for Tampa Bay, who only have Isaac Paredes (11 HRs) and Randy Arozarena (10 HRs) producing double-digit homers this season.
#4. Minnesota Twins
The Minnesota Twins could use Dylan Dreiling as the franchise's top power hitter. Currently, Carlos Santana and Ryan Jeffers are tied in the home run department with 12 each this season. As a team, the Twins have 92 homers and have hit .247 with 367 runs scored in 78 games.
Minnesota is currently second in the American League Central race and acquiring Dreiling in the draft could give the Twins offense clutch hitting in the postseason thanks to his experience with Tennessee.
#3. Miami Marlins
The Miami Marlins are one of the teams that could secure Dylan Dreiling's services. The Marlins expect the CWS MOP to be a useful piece at a low cost due to his so-so prospect ranking of 72nd on the MLB website.
With the whole Marlins team combining for only 63 homers and 267 homers this season, getting Dreiling would be a must for the Miami management as they seek to avoid another trip down the NL East cellar.
#2. Oakland Athletics
The Oakland Athletics need a more accurate batter who could bring up their .221 batting average this season. Currently, third baseman Abraham Toro leads the team, averaging .260.
Here, Dylan Dreiling would bring his hitting prowess in college baseball to the majors. This would certainly boost Oakland's offense and possibly improve the team's chances of winning.
#1. Philadelphia Phillies
The Philadelphia Phillies' left field has been a free-for-all with at least four batters platooning for the spot. Adding Dylan Dreiling to the mix would ensure the Phillies a power bat and an everyday starter at left field in the future.
Philadelphia is also known for its power hitting with a combined 94 homers this season. The Phillies rank joint fourth with Houston Astros in HRs behind the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles.
