How to watch Kansas State vs. Virginia baseball game today? TV channels, streaming options and more

On Saturday, the Kansas State Wildcats will try to tie the series against the Virginia Cavaliers in the Charlottesville Super Regional. The hosts defeated K-State on Friday 4-7 in the opening game of the super regional. A defeat would mean the end of the Wildcat's post-season run and the qualification of the Cavaliers to the 2024 College World Series (CWS).

A three-run homer at the bottom of the seventh gave Virginia the lead in Friday night's game. Henry Godbout was the hero for the Cavaliers, hitting the key homer. K-State had taken a three-run lead in the third inning after a single run in the first inning and two runs courtesy of a two-run double by Kaelen Culpepper.

Virginia took the lead after two runs in the fifth and sixth innings, but the Wildcats tied again with a single run at the top of the seventh. From there came the three-run homer at the bottom of the seventh, and the rest is history.

Kansas State head coach Pete Hughes on Friday's defeat

Pete Hughes tipped his hat to the opposition on Friday's defeat, recognizing that the Cavaliers hunged in like Rocky Balboa, not letting go of the encounter.

"It was a great ballgame, that's why you play nine innings," Hughes said. "Virginia hung out there and capitalized on a couple opportunities. From a coaching perspective, you hate giving up runs for not being fundamentally sound."
"In a few instances we were, taking nothing away from Virginia's offense, because when you hit a three-run homer with two outs, that's usually a deciding factor in a close game, and that's what they did."

But he didn't concede the series just yet, afterward assuring the press that the K-State Wildcats had it in them what was necessary to come back. Whatever happens on Saturday's encounter, the season of the Wildcats has to be considered a success already.
