North Carolina vs. Virginia College World Series preview

North Carolina is the fourth-seeded team in college baseball, and they'll be poised for a deep run in the 2024 College World Series. They started their postseason journey with wins in the Chapel Hill Regional over Long Island and LSU.

Following a stellar performance in the regionals, North Carolina faced off against West Virginia in the Chapel Hill Super Regional. North Carolina made light work of West Virginia and qualified for the College World Series with a 2-0 series win.

Virginia's run to the CWS was slightly more challenging. They had to beat Pennsylvania and Mississippi to qualify for the supers. Then, in the super regionals, they eliminated Kansas State with a 2-0 series win to book their ticket to Omaha.

North Carolina is the more experienced team in terms of CWS appearances, as this is their 12th appearance at this level and their first since 2018. On the other hand, this is Virginia's seventh appearance.

Virginia is one of just three teams remaining in the tournament that made it to the CWS in 2023, and they'll fancy their chances of an upset against one of collegiate sport's most storied programs.
