“Is just different”: When LSU star Olivia Dunne came out to support BF Paul Skenes at MCWS last year
Social media star and LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne's relationship with Pittsburgh Pirates star Paul Skenes has been a subject of interest among her followers.
A video of Dunne taking in the atmosphere at Charles Schwab Field last year has been doing the rounds lately on social media. This was from her appearance in the stands during the 2023 College World Series last June, which was Skenes' second, and what would eventually be his last appearance in college baseball's season-ending tournament in Omaha.
Dunne, who was also visiting Omaha for the first time, made sure she let everyone know she was there to cheer the Tigers on.
"I love Omaha so far. This is my first time here, it’s a blast. The zoo here is incredible, and like you said, I’m just here to cheer on the Tigers."
She also spoke highly of college baseball, saying:
"College baseball is incredible. The atmosphere here is better than I could have ever imagined. I mean, LSU goes hard in every sport, but Omaha is just different."
Skenes capped off an incredible 2023 season with an unforgettable performance in Omaha. In two starts, he recorded 21 strikeouts with an ERA of just 1.15 in 15.2 innings pitched. In the semifinal round, he prevented the Wake Forest Demon Deacons from scoring a single run while recording nine strikeouts in 8.0 innings.
While the Tigers won their seventh NCAA Tournament title, Skenes was named the 2023 College World Series Most Outstanding Player.
Paul Skenes and Olivia Dunne started dating after the 2023 College World Series
Following this victory, rumors of Skenes' relationship with Dunne began to spread when she wore his jersey during the 2023 College World Series. Eventually, those rumors became true when they confirmed their relationship in August 2023.
The couple have been spotted together on several occasions and it is clear that they support each other's careers immensely. Olivia Dunne was in the stands at PNC Park when Skenes made his MLB debut in May this month against the Chicago Cubs, going viral on social media after celebrating his first strikeout in the major leagues.
