Jim Schlossnagle contract: How much does Texas A&M coach make? Salary structure, clauses and more
There is a lot of intriguing news coming out after Jim Schlossnagle and the Texas A&M Aggies lost Game 3 of the 2024 College World Series to the Tennessee Volunteers. Coach Schlossnagle has been one of the coaches tied to the now-open Texas Longhorns head coach position and was asked about it after the game during his media availability, though he did not love the question.
"I think it is pretty selfish of you to ask me that question, to be honest with you," Schlossnagle said (per 247sports). "But I left my family to be the coach at Texas A&M. I took the job at Texas A&M to never take a job again, and that has not changed my mind. That is unfair to talk about something like that. That would be like you asking (Braden) Montgomery if he is going to sign in the draft."
He is currently slated to make $1.35 million per season and is under contract with the Texas A&M Aggies until after the 2029 season.
"I understand you have to ask the quetion, but I gave up a big part of my life to come take this job. I have poured every ounce of my soul into this job. And I have given this job every single ounce that I could possibly get it. So write that." h/t 247 Sports
There are ties between Schlossnagle and Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte. The two worked together in the same roles from 2009-17 with the TCU Horned Frogs. But what does Jim Schlossnagle's contract look like and is there a possibility he could leave Texas A&M to coach the Texas Longhorns for the 2025 college baseball season?
What does Jim Schlossnagle's contract look like?
According to GigEm247's open records request, Texas A&M coach Jim Schlossnagle made $1.35 million as a base salary in 2024 during his third season with the Aggies. However, there is an interesting clause about him taking another job while under contract.
His current contract is set to expire on June 30, 2029, meaning he has another five years remaining on his current deal. However, if Schlossnagle were to leave for another college baseball program in the state of Texas, his buyout would be twice his annual salary.
That means if the Longhorns want to sign Jim Schlossnagle and he were to agree to leave Texas A&M, it would trigger a $2.7 million buyout.
