“Let's send some positivity” - Jim Schlossnagle’s son Jackson sends regards to new Texas A&M HC Michael Earley
The Texas A&M Aggies and coach Jim Schlossnagle's story has been intriguing, to say the least. Jim Schlossnagle took the Aggies to the 2024 College World Series and within a game of being crowned the national champions. However, 24 hours later he was signing a contract to officially leave the program and head to the Texas Longhorns.
The Texas A&M Aggies though have officially found his replacement as former hitting coach Michael Earley was announced on Sunday as the team's new coach. Jim Schlossnagle's son, Jackson, sent a congratulatory message to the newest coach in the SEC.
This is a big development as Michael Earley was expected to be the hitting coach for the Texas A&M Aggies as part of Jim Schlossnagle's coaching staff and officially left the Aggies for four days. However, he is back as the new head coach of the program.
What does Michael Earley becoming Texas A&M coach mean for the Aggies moving forward?
The Texas A&M Aggies are in a good position to win and after seeing Jim Schlossnagle leave for the Texas Longhorns, this provides a bit of stability to the runner-ups in the 2023 College World Series.
Michael Earley showcased his ability to coach as he has been with the Aggies for the last three seasons as the team's hitting coach and the team set the program record in walks (422), as well as home runs (126).
He also was able to help lead Gavin Grahovac, Jace LaViolette, Braden Montgomery and Jackson Appel to All-American honors for their efforts this previous season. This helps keep a familiar face in the Aggies' dugout, as athletic director Trev Alberts said in the statement announcing this decision.
"Michael is a very talented coach and recruiter, but what stood out to me was his character and the relationships he built with his current and former players. During our interview process he was really impressive.
I think it helps he knows our current roster, which finished second in the country, and he also knows Aggieland and the 12th Man. I am excited about the future of Aggie baseball."
It was going to be extremely difficult to replace Jim Schlossnagle but it seems like the Texas A&M Aggies are going to be in a great position moving forward.
