2024 College World Series Jello Shot Challenge: Tennessee leads the rally just hours before crucial Texas A&M matchup
The 2024 College World Series has been one of the most exciting events in the college sports calendar and one reason for that is the Rocco's Jello Shot Challenge.
The contest has been one of the staples of the two-week event and there is a Twitter account that has been created for fans to follow the updated scoreboard.
The most recent update showed that the Tennessee Volunteers have a 1,600 Jello shot lead over the Texas A&M Aggies.
To put this number in perspective, the 2022 winner were the Ole Miss Rebels with 18,777 Jello shots purchased. That is the second most that the contest has ever seen. Currently, Tennessee and Texas A&M are third and fourth all-time on the list.
However, it will have to take a lot of Jello shots to be prepared if they want to even compare to the amount that last year's winner had. The 2023 LSU Tigers had an absolutely dominant performance as they purchased an unbelievable 68,888 Jello shots throughout the College World Series.
What exactly is the College World Series Jello Shot Challenge?
The Jello Shot Challenge is an annual tradition that takes place in Omaha, Nebraksa, during the College World Series. Rocco's Pizza and Catina runs the contest during the series and it is not an overly complicated contest.
People in the area can purchase Jello shots throughout the College World Series and support one of the eight teams competing. Whichever team the person who bought the drink is supporting would get one additional tally and the dry-erase board is updated.
The program that receives the most tallies at the conclusion of that year's College World Series is given a sizable donation to help resolve issues on the college campus.
After the 2023 College World Series, Rocco's sent a $142,464 combined donation to campus food banks of the eight participating programs. There was also a donation from the eight teams and Rocco's to the Heartland Food Bank.
The Rocco's Jello Shot Challenge is just another way to show off team and school spirit while supporting a great cause.
