2025 RHP Jack Paris becomes Jim Schlossnagle’s first commit since taking Texas HC gig: Reports
Jim Schlossnagle has secured the commitment of 2025 RHP Jack Paris ahead of his first year as the head coach of the Texas Longhorns. The former Texas A&M hasn't wasted time getting a highly sought-after prospect for his new project in Texas.
Paris is Schlossnagle's first commit, which is a sign of things to come for the six-time national champions.
Who is Jack Paris?
Jack Paris is a right-handed pitcher and first baseman out of Kinkaid HS in Houston. According to Sports Illustrated, Paris is 6-3 and 200 pounds and has a fastball that clocks in the 90s.
Paris had previously committed to play for the Texas A&M Aggies, but Jim Schlossnagle's departure has flipped his commitment to the Texas Longhorns. Paris will be joined by fellow former Aggies commit Sam Cozart.
Cozart is a right-handed pitcher from Wesleyan Christian Academy with a 6-7, 240-pound frame. Cozart has a nice variety of pitches and a fastball that clocks in the low 90s.
Paris and Cozart won't be the only commits to Texas following Schlossnagle's arrival, and it's a great time to be a Longhorns baseball fan.
What will Jack Paris bring to Jim Schlossnagle’s Texas Longhorns?
Jack Paris excelled in high school thanks to his fastball and high baseball IQ. He was highly recruited heading into graduation before initially committing to the Texas A&M Aggies. However, he has since flipped the commitment and elected to join Jim Schlossnagle at the Texas Longhorns.
Paris will join the roster in a developmental capacity as the program aims to replace MLB Draft-bound RHP Lebarron Johnson Jr.
Johnson Jr. was one of the Longhorns' most important pitchers in 2024 and struck out batters with impressive consistency.
Johnson Jr. was recently among the 319 Draft-eligible prospects who took to the Chase Field to participate in the MLB Draft Combine. Hence, he won't be returning to the Longhorns in 2025. That means that Paris and other right-handed pitchers will get to prove they can take his spot on the Longhorns pitching roster.
