College World Series Weather Today, June 18: Omaha weather forecast ahead of NCAA baseball championship gamesĀ
Tuesday was unfortunately an interesting weather day at the College World Series in Omaha. With massive storms rolling through, Kentucky's elimination game with Florida was pushed to 10:00 a.m. Central Time on Wednesday morning. It will make for a busy Wednesday in Omaha.
After the Kentucky/Florida game, the regularly scheduled Tennessee/Florida State matchup will be played at 2:00 p.m. CST. Then, at 6:00 p.m. CST, Texas A&M will face the winner of the Kentucky/Florida game.
College World Series weather update for June 18
Of course, the immediate issue now is if the weather will improve enough to play three games on Wednesday. Frankly, the outlook is somewhat uncertain. National weather reports indicate a decent chance of rainy weather from late night until around the time scheduled for the Tennessee/FSU game. A delay of the opener could push back both the other games for Wednesday as well.
There is also a decent chance of rain on Thursday. That day is set aside for possible games of Tennessee/FSU and Texas A&M and its late Wednesday opponent. As UT and A&M are both unbeaten, if they lose their games on Wednesday night, the team that beats them would have to come back and beat them again on Thursday to earn a spot in the Finals, which are set to begin on Saturday.
Who is predicted to win the College World Series?
At this point, the two teams that haven't lost yet, Tennessee and Texas A&M are by far the two favorites to potentially win the College World Series. Tennessee is currently a -125 favorite to win with A&M getting +165 odds. Florida State, by having secured its matchup with UT is at +900, while Kentucky (+1700) and Florida (+2100) have to battle each other before advancing.
Kentucky is, as those odds would suggest, a mild favorite over Florida in Wednesday's early game. Kentucky is getting -136 odds, with Florida at +106 for Wednesday's contest.
What channel is the College World Series on?
All three of Wednesday's College World Series games are slated to be broadcast on ESPN. If a Thursday game is required between Texas A&M and its late Wednesday opponent, that broadcast would be slated for ESPN2. The remaining games are all scheduled on ESPN. Some reports have indicated that Game 2 of the Finals will also air on ABC.
