“Get off to a great start” - $14M worth Lane Kiffin hilariously teases Tony Vitello’s Tennessee ahead of CWS finals Game 2
Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin hilariously teased Tony Vitello's Tennessee baseball team a few hours ahead of its clash against Texas A&M in Game 2 of the College World Series finals on Sunday. Kiffin, who is worth $14 million as per Celebrity Net Worth, quote-tweeted the Vols' Game 1 starting lineup for Saturday, which Tennessee lost 9-5, and wrote:
"Good luck guys !! Get off to a great start."
Kiffin has a history with Tennessee. He coached the Vols football team for one season in 2009 and led them to a 7-6 record, an improvement from the 5-7 record under previous coach Phillip Fulmer. At the time, Kiffin was 33 and held the then-record for being the youngest head coach in college football.
However, Kiffin resigned from his post at Tennessee to take up the vacant coaching job at USC in 2010. It was a rather abrupt split between the coach and Tennessee, leading to riots among campus students, further requiring Knoxville police and fire departments to get involved.
Kiffin's latest tweet mocking Tennessee suggests his animosity with the Vols remains nearly 15 years after leaving the program.
