Is the College World Series in a rain delay? Taking a look at the weather in Omaha

The College World Series elimination game between the Kentucky Wildcats and the Florida Gators has taken a rain check, in the most literal sense. Due to the current weather around the Omaha, Nebraska area, the NCAA has announced that Game 10 of the College World Series will be postponed until Wednesday at 11 a.m. ET. The press of the ruling body of college athletics reads as follows:

"Due to impending weather, Game 10 has been postponed to tomorrow, Wednesday, June 19 at 10 a.m. CT. Gates will open at 9 a.m. CT. Box office will open at 8 a.m. CT... Game 11 will take place approximately at 2 p.m. CT. Gates will open tentatively 1 hour following the conclusion of Game 10... Game 12 will approximately take place at 6 p.m. CT. Gates will open tentatively 1 hour following the conclusion of Game 11"

According to meteorologists, a cold front in the Omaha metro area is expected to generate severe storms. The current schedule has been generated in the hope of not postponing any game, and for the tournament to proceed as smoothly as possible.

The major dangers at the moment are hails and wind gusts, but in the Midwest, tornado threats are never to be dismissed. There's also the potential for flash flooding.

Florida State the only ACC school left standing in College World Series

Earlier on Tuesday, the Seminoles eliminated the highest-seeded ACC school in the tournament, North Carolina. With the 9-5 win, Florida State secured a spot in the semifinals against the Tennessee Volunteers.

In a College World Series that only has ACC and SEC programs, the Seminoles became the last school standing from the conference. North Carolina joins NC State, and Virginia as ACC teams who've packed their backs and turned back home.

The affair was never really in doubt for Florida State, since the Seminoles took the lead in the second inning and never looked back. Just in the fifth inning did the North Carolina offense show any signs of rallying, as they scored four runs. The point was moot though, as the Seminoles also scored four runs in that inning.
