Is DBU’s Dan Heefner the next Texas A&M HC? All we know about potential Jim Schlossnagle replacement
Dallas Baptist University baseball coach Dan Heefner has been in the news with reports linking him to the job opening at Texas A&M. Jim Schlossnagle left the Aggies to join in-state rivals, the Texas Longhorns, two days after leading them to the end of its maiden College World Series final appearance.
On Thursday, reports from TheNaritiv's Taylor Hamm suggested that Heefner has already been decided as the new Texas A&M coach. The announcement of his unveiling will reportedly be made soon.
Notably, Hamm was one of the first few reporters to break the news of Schlossnagle's move to Texas. He mentioned that the same sources informed him about the to-be new coach Heefner.
Moreover, there have been other journalists in the past day reporting that Dan Heefner is the front-runner to take up the vacant job at Texas A&M. However, the Aggies are yet to make an official announcement.
The Aggies can take their time in deciding their next coach. Especially since Schlossnagle parted ways with the team a few days after their postseason run came to an end. However, many Texas A&M players entered the transfer portal following Schlossnagle's exit.
If the Aggies decide on their next coach soon, there is a possibility the new Texas A&M coach could help the program keep hold of most of its key players. This would be key as these players led the team to the CWS finals.
