The Wildcats are making their first appearance at the College World Series in Kentucky's program history. Nick Mingione's team showed no signs of nervousness on the big stage when it took down NC State 5-3 in the opening game of the CWS.

Kentucky's fairytale run in the postseason hit a bump when it lost 5-1 against Texas A&M in the winner's bracket on Monday. The Wildcats now have to win against Florida on Wednesday to remain in the CWS.

In the build-up to Kentucky's eliminator against Florida, coach Nick Mingione spoke highly of the Gators, but backed his team to step up its game for the big challenge.

"They took the hard path here, they were on the road, both for regionals and supers," Mingione said. "This league, every week teams can change, and this is a time that we're facing tomorrow that has been there, done that. They're well coached.
"So yeah, we'll definitely have our hands full and they are not the same team from when we played them a couple of weeks ago."

The winner of the matchup between Kentucky and Florida will play Texas A&M later on Wednesday for a spot in the College World Series finals. The loser will be eliminated from the postseason.
