"SEC Champs”: Vols’ Christian Moore’s GF Gracelyn Veitch celebrates his and Tennessee’s victory in SEC championship game
Christian Moore and Tennessee just won the SEC championship on Sunday, and Moore's girlfriend Gracelyn Veitch is celebrating alongside him. In a joint publication, the Vols infielder and Veitch shared a heartfelt hug in the aftermath of Tennessee's victory over LSU.
Veitch wrote in the caption:
"SEC CHAMPS!!! so grateful to get to watch you do what you love!"
Tennessee prevailed 4-3 in Sunday's championship game against the LSU Tigers. The victory is a turnaround for the Vols, who came in from the losing side of the bracket after falling to the Vanderbilt Commodores in their first game of the tournament.
Loy Dylan was the star of the game for Tennessee. The relief pitcher provided four and a half innings of scoreless relief, striking out five batters and giving up two walks.
In the end, Aaron Combs held the lead for the Volunteers in the ninth inning. Combs came in to help the embattled Kirby Connell, who had run into some trouble in the last inning of the game. Combs earned the save (his fifth of the year), closing the game on back-to-back strikeouts and leaving the tying run in second base.
Christian Moore's Vols become No. 1 overall national seed for NCAA baseball tournament
Having won their fifth SEC championship in program history, the Tennessee Volunteers were selected as the first overall seed for the upcoming NCAA baseball tournament. The Volunteers also shared the honors of SEC regular season champions with Kentucky (both schools had a conference record of 22-8). The Wildcats were awarded the second overall national seed.
Tennessee will now host Indiana, Southern Mississippi and Northern Kentucky at the regional round in Knoxville. The Volunteers are the favorites to win the College World Series later this year, which would be their first in program history. Tennessee currently has +500 odds to win the College World Series.
